Problems with Refacing Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinet refacing problems not to be confused with cabinet refinishing, can be a nightmare, especially if you don't hire the right reface company. At Ideal Home Improvement, we've seen it all. We know that you may encounter problems with inconsistent measurements, awkward spacing, or using subpar materials. That's why we offer nothing but high-quality materials to ensure that your renovation process is as seamless as possible. We have a wide array of solutions for any issue that may arise during this process, and we're here to solve them for you.

The cost of refacing kitchen cabinets is influenced by several factors, including materials such as new doors and drawer fronts, the doors and drawer fronts used, wood veneer, door hinges, and the drawer pulls and glides used, labor required, and the size of the kitchen. Kitchens with more cabinetries tend to incur a higher cost for refacing cabinets than those with fewer cabinets. The materials used, such as laminate, plywood veneer, or solid wood, can also significantly impact the cost, which ranges from $2,000 to $10,000 depending on the material quality and cabinet size.

On average, cabinet refacing costs about $7,000. The cost mainly depends on the material and can range from $60-$500 per linear foot. Laminate is at a fraction of the total cost, at lower end with $60-$80, followed by wood veneer at $100 - $200 and solid wood topping up the cost to $250 - $500.

Advantages of Real Wood Cabinet Refacing

Cabinet refacing, which is not the same as cabinet refinishing or cabinet painting, offers a wide range of refinishing of door and drawer front options.

Additionally, refacing projects are typically completed within 3-5 working days, making them a time-efficient option for homeowners.

Another notable advantage of the refacing process is the increased home value it provides. By improving the aesthetic of your house and your cabinets, which are often considered the heart of the home, cabinet refacing can allow homeowners to recoup over 80% of the project cost when the home they reface is resold.

Disadvantages of Real Wood Cabinet Refacing

Despite its benefits, cabinet refacing also has some drawbacks. Here are a few to consider:

  1. The cabinet refacing costs are generally more expensive than painting.

  2. It doesn't address any structural or layout issues with the existing cabinets.

  3. The interior of the cabinets remains largely unchanged, which may not resolve any workflow or storage problems.

Furthermore, there may be hidden costs associated with a cabinet refacing project, such as repairs to the existing cabinet boxes, upgrades and customization, removal and disposal, and any unforeseen complications. These potential additional costs should be taken into account when contemplating having to replace your old cabinet boxes refaced.

Choosing your Cabinet Doors

Choosing cabinet doors and drawer fronts to replace your existing cabinets is an important decision. After all, the new doors and drawers are the focal point, the design you choose will have a significant impact on the look and feel of your kitchen according to Boston Cabinet Cures.

We understand that a kitchen is more than just a cooking space. It is a place where you can create everlasting memories with your loved ones. Therefore, choosing the perfect replacement cabinet doors is important to enhance the overall look and feel of your Space. With the wide range of options available in the market, making a decision can be overwhelming. We will guide you through the refacing process and help you choose the perfect new cabinet doors for your Cabinets.

Real Wood Cabinet Refacing: What is it?

Real wood Cabinet Refacing is the process of retaining good shape of the existing kitchen cabinets while replacing the existing doors and drawer fronts, drawer boxes, drawer glides and cabinet hardware with newer counterparts. This method offers a cost-effective way to achieve a new look without the expense and hassle of a full cabinet replacement. To reface cabinets, the procedure typically involves removing the former cabinet boxes, doors and drawer fronts, applying a fresh veneer or finish to the existing cabinet surfaces, and potentially replacing the existing hardware throughout.

Will Repairs be done to my Existing Cabinet Boxes?

Yes, repairs will be done to your cabinet boxes during the refacing and painting process. The cabinet boxes will be inspected for any damage, and any necessary repairs will be made before painting the inside face frame edges (if chosen) and installing new cabinet doors and drawer fronts. This ensures that your refaced cabinets will look great, function properly, and last for many years to come.
