Real Wood Cabinet Refacing: What is it?

Refacing is a great way to give your kitchen a fresh new look without having to spend a lot of money on a full kitchen remodel. It's amazing how simply replacing the doors and drawer fronts, as well as giving the existing surfaces a new finish, can transform the entire space. Plus, with the added benefit of potentially replacing hardware, it's a great way to update the look of your kitchen.

Cabinet Refacing Cost

The cost of refacing a kitchen is determined by various factors, such as the materials used for new doors, drawer fronts, wood veneer, door hinges, drawer glides, the amount of labor involved, and the size of the kitchen. Generally, kitchens with more cabinets will cost more to reface than smaller kitchens.

On average, refacing done by a professional cost about $7,000. The cost mainly depends on the material and can range from $60-$500 per linear foot. Laminate is at a fraction of the cost at lower end with $60-$80, followed by wood veneer at $100 - $200 and solid wood topping up to $250 - $500.

Advantages of Professional Real Wood Cabinet Refacing

Refacing your cabinet exteriors can make a significant difference in the appearance of your kitchen or bathroom. It’s important to note that refacing and refinishing are not the same things. With refacing, you have a wide range of quality door and drawer front options to choose from, giving you the freedom to customize your space to your liking.

One of the best things about refacing is how quickly it can be completed. Most projects take only 3-5 working days, which means you can have a refreshed kitchen or bathroom in no time.

In addition to the aesthetic benefits, refacing can also increase the value of your home. It’s an affordable way to give your space a fresh look without the expense of a full renovation.

Disadvantages of Cabinet Refacing

Despite the benefits of refacing, it also has some drawbacks that should be considered before making a decision. Here are a few key points to take into account:

1. Kitchen refacing is generally more expensive than painting your kitchen cabinets.

2. Refacing doesn't address any structural or layout issues, but it does allow you to replace existing countertops.

3. The layout remains largely unchanged, which may not solve any workflow or storage problems you may have in your kitchen.

Choosing your Cabinet Doors

Choosing doors and drawer fronts is an important decision. After all, the new doors and drawers are the focal point, the design you choose will have a significant impact on the quality and the look and feel of your kitchen.

Cabinet Refinishing: What is it

Cabinet refinishing is the process of giving your existing cabinets a fresh new look without replacing them entirely. It typically involves stripping off the old finish, sanding down the surface, and then applying a new stain, paint, or clear coat to achieve the desired appearance.

Arlington, Massachusetts, so much History!

Arlington, founded over 350 years ago, still boasts of its history, although it has grown into a totally modern community. Uncle Sam's hometown, the location of the first free public children's library, and the scene of most of the action when the British marched through it returning from the Old North Bridge at the start of the Revolutionary War, Arlington has preserved numerous historic buildings and even rebuilt its town common. Once a prosperous mill and agricultural town, Arlington's excellent proximity to Greater Boston has made it an extremely desirable residential community.

Land Acknowledgment

The Town of Arlington is situated on the ancestral territory of the Massachusett Tribe, the Native people from whom the Colony, Province, and Commonwealth have taken their name. We give honor to the ancestral heritage of the Massachusett Tribe and their descendants who still reside within historic Massachusett territory to this day.

History Highlights of Arlington

The Town of Arlington was originally settled in 1635 as a village named Menotomy. In 1807, the Town and a portion of what is now Belmont were divided from Cambridge and incorporated as West Cambridge. The name was altered in 1867 to Arlington in memory of the heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Squaw Sachem: When the first settlers negotiated with Squaw Sachem (Lady Chief) in 1635, she reserved the right to hold a parcel of land around the Mystic Lakes for herself and required, in part payment, an English (woolen) coat every year for as long as she lived. Menotomy was the name of this location, an Algonquian word.

Menotomy was the name of this location, an Algonquian word.

Captain Cooke: Two years hence, Captain George Cooke utilized the rapidly flowing water in Mill Brook by building the first mill in this area. Farmers from Woburn, Cambridge, Watertown, and Medford had grain ground into flour at the mill.

The First School: In 1688, the 24 Menotomy taxpayers requested permission to build a school; an unusual request, for they did not yet have a meetinghouse. The school, built at what is now the cemetery on Pleasant Street, was completed in 1693 and stayed there for more than 100 years.

Battle of Menotomy (Patriots' Day): Arlington (which was then called Menotomy) played an active role on the first day of the American Revolution - April 19, 1775. Minutemen from surrounding towns joined forces in Menotomy to ambush the British on their retreat from Concord and Lexington. More than half of the casualties that historic day took place within the short distance between Foot of the Rocks (the intersection of Lowell Street and Massachusetts Avenue) and Spy Pond.
